A good start to the second season but a DVD that doesn't have much tSLotAT-related special features
NOTE: There is confusion in regards to the seasons of "The Secret Life of the American Teenager". The second volume was marketed as "Season Two" but abc Family has confirmed that it was a production mistake and the last volume marketed as season two is in fact, the second half of season one. This volume three release is the first half of season two.

The ABC Family series "THE SECRET LIFE OF THE AMERICAN TEENAGER" received a lot of attention during its first season as the series was critically acclaimed and also how ABC Family didn't sugarcoat the challenges of teenage pregnancy. Showing us the ramifications of being pregnant as a young teen but also the responsibilities and difficult choices one needs to make. I think this is a great show for all teens to watch. It has alot of real life problems, some of it may be a little unreal but I bought all 3 for my daughter and it helps her thinking ALOT!! I think a parent should watch the shows together as a family and talk about it!! Great family time

Popular: The Complete Second Season

This was really the golden age of the WB
I watched POPULAR when I was in high school, back in 2000-2001. It holds a special place in my heart and watching it really brings back memories. It was really one of the finest shows the WB ever produced. I'm a few years older now, but it's funny because life doesn't really change much. We are all still looking for popularity, love, friendship, family strength, confidence, and success. These were the major themes in the show, and rarely does a show present such intelligent and mature views of relationships. It was much, much more than a teen soap opera. It was a commentary on society in general, and our need to belong.

I really related to the characters in POPULAR. Sure, real life in high school during this time was never as glamorous or as fabulous as presented in this show--but I think we all wished it was, and POPULAR gave us dreams. It's hard to resist the cliques in Popular: Season 2
We all remember our days in high school. The moments that built our characters and the friends that defined who we were. So what crowd were you "in"? What clique established you? Brilliant!
First, to E. Babcock, Harrison did choose Brooke, she ran off because Sam had started to cry. At tvtome.com/Popular/ , on the last page of the episode guide, there is all the information about season three that had been written prior to WB pulling the plug (as provided by series creator/writer/producer Ryan Murphy). I think it is difficult to compare season one to season two as season one was under much tighter constrictions for wackiness, but season two went all out (even though it definitely had more dramatic drama). I think by the end of season two, these characters have been fleshed out enough that a season three would have been extremely sour.

Gripes about the DVD:

Only two commentaries...one with Bryce, Leslie (Bibb), and Chris...the second one with just Bryce and Leslie, and Bryce leaves about twenty minutes into it. I cannot believe Ryan Murphy didn't lend his own thought to a commentary or two. Not to mention, the commentaries aren't even on big...

10 Things I Hate About You (10th Anniversary Edition) [Blu-ray]

A surprisingly good adaptation of Shakespeare.
10 Things I Hate About You is a fairly basic teen love story, but with the added twist of Shakespeare and some good comedic acting.

The story is based on Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew. It is about two sisters, one very popular, Bianca Stratford (played by Larisa Oleynik) and the other, Katrina, or "Kat" (played by Julia Stiles) hated because of her gruff character. Their overbearing father (played by the hilarious Larry Miller), devises a scheme whereby Bianca cannot date until rebellious Katrina does, which seems an impossibility. Thereby is set up a scheme to pair Katrina off with the roguish Patrick Verona. One of the masterminds of this plot is Cameron James (played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt), a newcomer to Padua high, where the movie takes place. The other is his assistant of sorts, Michael Eckman (played by David Khumoltz).

Though somewhat predictable, especially if you have read Taming of the Shrew, it is an interesting light diversion. The dialogue is quite well done,...

Great movie, the type where you'll memorize every line!
When I first saw previews for this movie, I thought that it looked alright, and that it was just another movie like Can't Hardly Wait and She's All That. Since I found those movies entertaining, I decided to watch it. When I finished the movie, I was completly blown away. The movie was nothing as I had expected it would be. The plot was so much better than all of those other teenage movies. This movie has everything: a good script, hysterical jokes, great acting, even a good soundtrack. Heath Ledger played Patrick Verona, a typical tough guy, and it's so fun to watch his tough exterior dissapear to reveal a sensitive loving guy. Julia Stiles does a wonderful portrayal of Kat Stratford, a sarcastic teenage girl trying her hardest not to fit in. Her sister Bianca is also well cast, played by Larissa Olyenick. The contrast between these two sisters is hysterical. Cameron, a sweet guy, is played by Joesph Gordon-Levitt, and you can't help but smile at his innocence...

A Fantastic Movie

10 Things I Hate About You: Volume One

A pretty solid DVD featuring the first 10 episodes of the series and enjoyable special features
Ten years after the popular teenage romantic comedy film "10 Things I Hate About You", director Gil Gunger along with writer Carter Covington ("Greek") returns with a brand new sitcom for abc Family with "10 Things I Hate About You", a 30-minute comedy which began in July 2009 and on its first day attracted over a million viewers. With 10 episodes filmed, the popularity of the series has earned an additional episodes that will be shown in 2010. But to prepare viewers for this second half of season one, volume one of the TV series has been released on DVD.

You Won't Hate This!
Cable shows rarely produce family fare that doesn't push the envelope too far and remakes in general don't tend to hold up. 10 Things I Hate About You is one of those rare exceptions. The actor who plays the father in the film reappears here in the series and is wonderful. The slight changes to the original premise (the best friend of the younger sister has been tweaked)work. The central lead, the older sister, is wonderfully portrayed and the backstory that is being added makes the entire show wonderful to watch. Add to all this, a male lead that teen girls like to look at, and it is a good tween/teen show that parents can sit through too.

Amazing!
Such a great show! I didn't expect much going into it but by episode 3 I was totally hooked! The Kat and Patrick scenes alone are worth watching the show for. They have amazing chemistry and Ethan Peck is a totally hot Patrick. Don't expect this to be like the movie but it's so different, it's really no use comparing it. It stands very much on its own. Also, it's actually funny!! This show is appealing not just to teens but to older viewers too. I'm 24 and find the storylines and characters engaging and endearing.
